Why your registered address is one of your most important business assets

Your registered office address is the official address of your company on the Hong Kong Companies Registry public record. Every government letter, IRD notice, Companies Registry correspondence, and court summons goes to this address. If it is not properly managed, critical communications can be missed — with serious legal consequences.

Beyond legal compliance, your address has a direct impact on your banking relationships. When opening a corporate account with HSBC, Standard Chartered, Airwallex, or Stripe, the compliance team checks your registered address. A residential address, a P.O. box, or an address in a low-grade building raises flags. Unit G, 15/F, TAL Building, 49 Austin Road, Kowloon passes every standard scrutiny.

TAL Building is a recognized Grade A commercial property in the heart of Kowloon's business district, a 5-minute walk from Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station. Banks know this address. It carries no virtual-office stigma because it is a real commercial building with a proper building management structure.

Registered Office Address — questions answered

Yes. Section 658 of the Companies Ordinance Cap. 622 requires every Hong Kong company to maintain a registered office in Hong Kong at all times. The address must be a physical address in Hong Kong — P.O. boxes are not permitted. The address must be kept current with the Companies Registry, and any change must be notified within 15 days using form NR1.
Technically yes if you reside in Hong Kong, but this is strongly discouraged. Your registered address becomes part of the public Companies Registry record — meaning anyone can look up your home address. It also creates problems with banks and payment processors, who are uncomfortable with residential addresses for corporate KYC. A Grade A commercial address is always the correct choice for a professional company.
If you are incorporating with HEVEA HK, the registered address is assigned immediately when your company is formed — it appears on your Certificate of Incorporation from day one. If you are switching from another provider, we can have you transferred to our address within 3–5 business days after signing the service agreement. You will receive a confirmation letter that you can provide to banks during account opening.
Yes. TAL Building at 49 Austin Road, Kowloon is a recognized Grade A commercial building. Airwallex, HSBC, Standard Chartered, and other major banks all recognize and accept this address during KYC. HEVEA HK itself uses this address as its own registered and principal place of business — so it carries full legal standing and no virtual-office stigma with compliance teams.
HEVEA HK staff are present at TAL Building during business hours to accept signature-required deliveries on your behalf. Courier packages from DHL, FedEx, or SF Express are received, scanned, and uploaded to your dashboard. The original physical items are held securely at our office. You can request international forwarding to any address at any time — we arrange the courier and bill actual shipping cost.
Yes. If you later lease a physical office in Hong Kong, you can change your registered address to your own premises. A change of registered address must be filed with the Companies Registry on form NR1 within 15 days of the change taking effect. HEVEA HK can file this form on your behalf as part of our secretarial service, or you can file it yourself through the CR e-Registry portal. There is no penalty for changing your address — just notify promptly.
