FAQ

Company Incorporation Questions

Do I need to travel to Hong Kong?
No. The entire process is remote. You submit documents digitally, we handle all filings with the Companies Registry. Your Certificate of Incorporation can be delivered internationally.
How is a Hong Kong company different from an offshore company?
A Hong Kong Limited company is a fully transparent, internationally recognised legal entity — not a secretive "offshore shell." It files annual returns publicly, has audited accounts, and benefits from HK's 37 double tax treaties. The offshore tax exemption is a legal mechanism for profits earned outside HK.
What is the company secretary and do I need one?
Yes — every Hong Kong company is legally required to appoint a company secretary under Section 474 of the Companies Ordinance (Cap. 622). The company secretary must be a Hong Kong resident or a licensed corporate secretary. We provide this as part of your package.
What happens after the first year?
After Year 1, you renew the registered office address ($490/year), company secretary ($790/year), and business registration. Our compliance calendar alerts you 90 days before each deadline. You can bundle all renewals for $1,190/year.
Can I use the company for any type of business?
Hong Kong companies can conduct most international business activities. Some activities require specific licences (money lending, insurance, securities trading). If your business is in a regulated sector, contact us first and we'll advise on the right structure.
